Mike Morrison
July 6, 1965 - July 27, 1989
Since his childhood, Mike Morrison was bound for greatness. At a young age, Mike started his hockey career in Bellingham, Massachusetts. Mike then attended Clarkson University where he became captain of the hockey team his senior year and became a member of the hall of fame. These accomplishments were not simply given to Mike; he earned them through his diligence, dedication, work ethic, and pure hustle. Mike played with his heart and soul, and all his effort paid off when he was offered a professional contract to play hockey in Finland with the Finnish Elite League after he graduated. Unfortunately, Mike’s dream to play professional hockey ended before it could begin. On July 27th, 1989 Mike passed away in a tragic construction accident. The world did not just lose a skilled hockey player; it lost a son, brother, uncle, friend, teammate, and role model.
Mike’s tragic and untimely death left his family, friends, and teammates heartbroken. However, Mike was not forgotten. Mike’s legacy of hard work, enthusiasm, and helping others lives on. Today, the memory of Mike’s spirit on and off the ice motivates those who knew him to follow their dreams and to always lend a helping hand to others. Mike’s strength and character is, and forever will be, an inspiration to us all.
To honor Mike’s memory and legacy, the Mike Morrison Scholarship Foundation and the Morrison Family holds an annual golf tournament, gathering friends and family to remember and honor Mike’s legacy. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Mike Morrison Scholarship Foundation.
